My new business

I have been struggling to find a “career” that I can work and make an income that will help us during the times that are tight.  I have tried numerous different home businesses and none of them have really been the right fit for me.  I have signed up with Stanley Home Products.  If you have ever heard of them or have ever known anyone that has used them you can ask about their quality.  My mom used them a long time ago and I remember having them around.

I just washed a pair of white flannel sheets that were looking pretty dingy with my usual detergent and I added some of the concentrated Degreaser to my load and they came out so pretty and white again.  My oldest son has MRSA and I have discovered a collection of products that kills MRSA.  I am very excited to receive this collection.  I am also including the ad for them.  If anyone is interested in these wonderful products, please email me at AmysSHP@aol.com  I am working on getting a personal website with SHP that orders can be placed through my site and as soon as that is done, I will put a link up on my blog.

Court is over… at least for now.

March 26, 2008 by Admin · Leave a Comment

Well, things went well at court.  The total was decreased by a little bit.  But then the total of Jamie’s schooling (home schooling) was added back in so it almost went up back to what it was.  The total per month was reduced by $11 a month from what Child Support Office said he should be paying.   There is someone that was a friend of mine that got mad at me about filing and receiving an increase.  I can understand part of her complaint but the other part I cannot.  I can understand that the amount that she receives for also two children by the same person, is less…. I personally think that she should try to get more and I believe that she also deserves more.  However, the part that I can’t understand is how the amount that she receives being less that what I receive is MY fault.  I think she should have more than she gets but it isn’t up to me to decide what she gets.  I didn’t ask for a specific amount, they figured that up…

Anyway, he can appeal it one more time.  I don’t know if he will or not.  I would think he would decide that the judge decided what is right and it didn’t change that much so they really aren’t trying to bleed him dry.  The judge said that normally they don’t consider what he pays for insurance in the mix but because he does pay so much, the did give him more credit than they had to.

Surgery today

March 18, 2008 by Admin · Leave a Comment

Jamie had surgery today.  We got some pretty good news.  He had a hard time when he was waking up.  His chest kind of caved in and he turned blue and his saturations dropped to the low to mid 80’s.  He was almost biting on his tongue and he really scared me.  On the way home he was complaining of a really bad headache so we stopped and got him some liquid Tylenol and gave it to him.  He slept the rest of the way home.  I had to stop to suction him twice.  He got an Atrovent breathing treatment when he was in the recovery room because of the “spell” that he had.  The doctor said that he is really red and raw in his airway (must have a virus) and that there was a lot of granulation tissue at the top of his trach.  The tumors on the inside, as far as the compression, doesn’t appear to have changed.  That is GREAT news!  All in all it is good news.  It isn’t bad news and the virus will go away, we just have to keep doing what we have been doing and and add another inhaler to his medicines for two weeks.  We go back on April 17th for follow up.

Surgery tomorrow

March 17, 2008 by Admin · Leave a Comment

Jamie is having surgery tomorrow.  We are here at the hotel near the hospital.  They give us a special hospital rate (a lot of the hotels around here do that since this is a college/teaching hospital city).  It helps that my honey works down here.  Jamie just loves seeing him when we come here.  He talks about seeing him for a whole week or more before we actually come down here.  Tonight we will get to have dinner with him.  That is great!

We have to be at the hospital tomorrow morning at 7:30 AM.  There is another child (I assume) having the same procedure done tomorrow as Jamie and they have an arrival time of 6:30 AM.  They will be first and we are second.  An arrival time of 7:30 means they expect Jamie’s surgery to start around 8:30 AM.  Sometimes they are later than that when there is a complication with the case before us or an emergency in the night that puts him a little late.  I can’t say that it is “fun” when that happens but there are so many times that Jamie has been that emergency that puts everyone else behind that I understand what happens to the rest.  Even though the doctors down here say that they aren’t the reason that Jamie is still alive, that he shouldn’t still be here as far as they can tell medically…. I know that if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t still have him.  They gave us the chance to love him and take care of him and to keep him around.

He is sitting on the other bed, watching SpongeBob SquarePants and licking the salt off a small bag of “Chex Mix” that we just got from the hotel snack machine.  It is funny to watch him watch SpongeBob.  He says all of the lines right along with the show.  We made a deal that he can watch tv until 8 PM and then it is my turn.  He was just asking what time we were going to bed.  My phone is vibrating.. my honey is calling… be back later.

Lost some stuff

March 4, 2008 by Admin · Leave a Comment

I just wanted to let everyone know that some of the items that I had on here have been lost.  I have had a few problems with my site (totally my fault) and I lost a little bit of information.  I hope that anyone that posted me any comments will repost them.  I hate that I lost them.  I am still learning this whole hosting thing.

Hope that all is well with everyone.  We go to UVA again tomorrow to see the pediatric pulmonologist about Jamie and make sure there is nothing that we need to change for him.  I will post again tomorrow to see how that goes.
